The National Teaching Council (NTC) is working tirelessly to open the Ghana teacher licensure examination (GTLE) past questions portal also known as Test Prep Portal from next week, the Association of Teacher Trainees said on Friday.
The Teacher Trainees Association of Ghana (TTAG) in a statement copied to EducationWeb.com.gh said the learning portal will be opened before the conduct of the second phase of the 2021 teacher licensure exams slated for October
“The GTLE past questions portal (Test Prep Portal) will be opened by the National Teaching Council from next week onwards as part of preparations for the writing of the October Ghana teacher licensure examination,” TTAG stated.
A staff of the National Teaching Council (NTC) has told EducationWeb.com.gh the Test Prep Portal will enable graduate teachers seeking to write the licensure examination to practise adequately before sitting for the examination.
Dr Yaw Adutwum, the Minister for Education who tasked NTC to develop the portal in a meeting told President Akufo-Addo said this will enable the graduate teachers to practice how to answer the licensure questions to pass the test.
“I have instructed the National Teaching Council (NTC) to create a web portal with thousand’s of sample questions for people to have the opportunity to practice and use to prepare to sit for the national examination,” the Minister noted.
The decision to create a teacher licensure exams past questions web portal follows the mass failure recorded in this year’s May Ghana teacher licensure examination (GTLE) after the Teaching Council released the results of candidates.
The Education Minister speaking to His Excellency Nana Addo disclosed that the Management of the National Teaching Council (NTC) lowered the pass mark for the teacher examination, but most candidates could not beat the cut.
“I don’t want to talk about the GTLE pass mark which was set for the May 2021 licensure examination, it was brought so low that yet some candidates did not beat the cut.” the Teaching Minister told President Akufo-Addo.
