Ponder’s record over the course of his four seasons with the team was a lackluster 14-21-1. Subsequently, he served as a backup for teams such as the Oakland Raiders, Denver Broncos, and San Francisco 49ers. However, his retirement in 2016 came without taking another snap in the NFL.

NFL player Christian Ponder and ESPN reporter Samantha Steele met on Twitter and got married two months later at a courthouse in Wisconsin, followed by a meal at Arby’s. They later had a more elaborate wedding ceremony in April.
