As a player, Mark Jackson had a successful career as a point guard in the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played for several teams during his NBA career, including the New York Knicks, Los Angeles Clippers, Indiana Pacers, Denver Nuggets, Toronto Raptors, and Houston Rockets. Jackson was known for his excellent passing and playmaking skills, ranking third on the NBA’s all-time assists list at the time of his retirement.
After his playing career, Mark Jackson transitioned to coaching. He gained prominence as the head coach of the Golden State Warriors from 2011 to 2014. Under his leadership, the Warriors experienced significant improvement and became one of the top teams in the NBA. However, despite his success with the team, Jackson was relieved of his coaching duties by the Warriors in 2014.
It was announced by ESPN that Mark Jackson was released from his broadcasting duties after working with them for ten years. He often teamed up with Jeff Van Gundy and veteran broadcaster Mike Breen to cover NBA games.
It was reported that ESPN laid off Van Gundy as part of a cost-cutting measure. Sources indicate that Doris Burke and former Philadelphia 76ers head coach, Doc Rivers, will be taking over their roles.
On Instagram, Jackson revealed that he learned of his termination from ESPN. The ex-Indiana Pacers player expressed well wishes for the company and expressed excitement about embarking on a new professional journey.

On July 29, 1990, Jackson tied the knot with Desiree Coleman, who is a singer and actress. The couple has been blessed with four children. After being together for 27 years, Jackson and Coleman decided to separate and got divorced in 2017. Mark Jackson Sr.’s son, Mark Jackson Jr., played for the Manhattan Jaspers during the 2012-2013 season after transferring from the University of Louisville. Additionally, Jackson Sr. is the older sibling of famous AND1 streetball player, “Escalade” Troy Jackson, who passed away on February 20th, 2011 at the age of 38.
