Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta known professionally as Lady Gaga is an American singer, songwriter, and actress. She is known for her image reinventions and musical versatility. Gaga began performing as a teenager, singing at open mic nights, and acting in school plays.
She studied at Collaborative Arts Project 21, through the New York University Tisch School of the Arts, before dropping out to pursue a career in music. After Def Jam Recordings canceled her contract, she worked as a songwriter for Sony/ATV Music Publishing, where she signed a joint deal with Interscope Records and KonLive Distribution, in 2007.
Gaga had her breakthrough the following year with her debut studio album, The Fame, and its chart-topping singles “Just Dance” and “Poker Face”. The album was later reissued to include the extended play The Fame Monster (2009), which yielded the successful singles “Bad Romance”, “Telephone”, and “Alejandro”.

But she is dating Michael Polansky, a Harvard graduate and an executive at the Institute for Cancer Immunotherapy and The Parker Foundation. Rumors flew that Gaga had a new boyfriend on New Year’s 2020 when she was seen kissing a mystery man (who was later identified as Polansky.) A source told E! News at the time that the two had been dating “for a month.” “They’ve been seeing each other since before the holidays and she’s crazy about him…They had already been seeing each other for weeks.”
Since then, Gaga has posted several photos of her and her new beau on Instagram. But that doesn’t mean they’re serious. A source told Us Weekly in February 2020: “They are not serious. She’s having fun and likes the attention, but he is not the only guy she’s interested in. Despite sharing a pic of them on Instagram together, she hasn’t been making a big deal about Michael to her friends.” Gaga and Polansky made their red carpet debut together at the 2022 Critics Choice Awards, where she was nominated for her role in House of Gucci.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter in 2021, Gaga called Polansky and her dogs her “whole life” after two men attacked her dog walker, Ryan Fischer, and took her two dogs, Koji and Gustav while she was in Rome filming House of Gucci in early 2021. “Everybody’s OK,” Gaga said at the time. “Everybody’s healing. I pray for Ryan all the time. I’m so grateful that we did not lose him. And every day I thank God for the safe return of my dogs.” She continued, “My dogs and the man that I love are my whole life.”
