Hussein, Crown Prince of Jordan Biography

Hussein bin Abdullah holds the title of Crown Prince of Jordan, being the son of King Abdullah II and Queen Rania. He belongs to the Hashemite dynasty, which has been the royal family of Jordan since 1921. According to his lineage, he is the 42nd-generation direct descendant of the prophet Muhammad.

The birth of Hussein took place on 28 June 1994 at King Hussein Medical Center in Amman. His parents were the then-Crown Prince Abdullah and Crown Princess Rania. Abdullah and Rania first met at a dinner organized by Abdullah’s sister Princess Aisha in Amman. At the time, Rania was working as a marketing employee at Apple Inc. After just six months, they got married. Hussein was named after his grandfather, King Hussein. Although there is no historical evidence to support it, Hussein claims to have lineage from Muhammad’s daughter Fatimah and Ali, the fourth caliph, in the male line.

The firstborn child of King Abdullah and Queen Rania is Hussein. His grandfather on his father’s side was King Hussein, and his grandmother is Princess Muna, who hails from England and was King Hussein’s second wife. Hussein has three siblings, namely Princess Iman, Princess Salma, and Prince Hashem. His early education took place at the International School of Choueifat and the International Amman Academy, while he completed high school at King’s Academy in 2012. After obtaining a bachelor’s degree in International History from Georgetown University in 2016, he graduated from the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in 2017 and now serves as a captain in the Jordanian Armed Forces.

Hussein is a Captain in the Jordanian Armed Forces. He started his education in Jordan and earned his degree in International History from Georgetown University in 2016. Hussein has accompanied his father on local and international visits since he reached the legal age in 2012 and has served as a regent on multiple occasions. Currently, he leads the Crown Prince Foundation, which oversees a technical university and various scientific and humanitarian initiatives. In 2015, at just 20 years old, Hussein made history by becoming the youngest person to chair a UN Security Council session. He addressed the UN General Assembly in September 2017 after graduating from Sandhurst.

It was announced on August 17th, 2022 by the Royal Hashemite Court that Crown Prince Hussein and Rajwa Al Saif, a Saudi citizen, were engaged. The two lovebirds met through a mutual friend, and the engagement ceremony took place at Al Saif’s father’s home in Riyadh, the capital and largest city of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Al Saif was born on April 28th, 1994 in Riyadh and is the daughter of Khaled bin Musaed bin Saif bin Abdulaziz Al Saif and Azza bint Nayef bin Abdulaziz bin Ahmed Al Sudairi (who happens to be a maternal first cousin of King Salman of Saudi Arabia). She attended Syracuse University School of Architecture. The happy couple tied the knot on June 1st, 2023 at Zahran Palace.
