Connor Sturgeon: How old was the Louisville Bank Shooter?

Connor Sturgeon was a former high school basketball star and finance graduate who later became a banker. He live-streamed a tragic shooting at a Louisville bank, which started at around 8:30 am at Old National Bank downtown. Sturgeon opened fire on some employees who were in a morning meeting before the bank was open to the public.

Rebecca Buchheit-Sims, a manager at the bank, watched the meeting virtually and witnessed her coworkers being killed. Later, Police responded to the shooting and Sturgeon was killed.

Connor Sturgeon: How he became the Bank Shooter

Connor Sturgeon, a former varsity hoops star and finance graduate, was employed as a syndications associate and portfolio banker at Old National Bank (ONB) in Louisville. In April 2022, he completed ONB Commercial Banking Development Training Program and began his role at the bank.

Sturgeon was also certified in the RMA Lending Decision Process, and he had earned his Master’s degree in Finance from the University of Alabama. Additionally, he was a member of the Young Professionals board of Junior Achievement of Kentuckiana.

Sturgeon had attended Floyd Central High School in Floyds Knobs, Indiana, where he excelled in academics, athletics, and popularity. He was a star athlete in high school track, football, and basketball, and a former friend and teammate said that he always wore a helmet during basketball games due to multiple head traumas.

Unfortunately, Sturgeon’s legacy is now marred by the horrific shooting that took place on June 10, 2022, at the Old National Bank downtown, where he worked. Sturgeon began firing around 8:30 am while some employees were in a morning meeting before the bank was open to the public.

Rebecca Buchheit-Sims, a bank manager, watched the meeting virtually and witnessed her coworkers being killed. Eventually, police responded to the shooting and killed Sturgeon. His actions left a trail of destruction and trauma that will forever be etched in the minds of those who experienced it.

Connor Sturgeon was 25 years old at the time of his death. He was born to his parents Todd Sturgeon (Father), while his mother’s name remains unknown at the time of this post.

His Father once described him as a finance major and an NBA hoop-head. Meanwhile, Todd was Floyd Central’s head basketball coach until last year.

After coaching the University of Indianapolis‘ men’s basketball team for a decade, Todd left the institution in 2007. His decision was prompted after he observed Connor at a basketball camp. Todd recognized he would prefer to spend more time with his own children than coaching others.

The motive behind the shooting committed by Connor Sturgeon has been brought into question.

Sturgeon was reportedly aware that he was going to be terminated from his job and had left a note for his loved ones prior to the incident. The shooting, which occurred at the Old National Bank in Louisville, resulted in four deaths and nine injuries.

Sturgeon also live-streamed the attack on Instagram, but the video has since been removed. The shooter was identified as a “lone gunman” and an employee of the bank. The use of social media to document such incidents has become increasingly prevalent.

The police who responded to the attack ended up killing Sturgeon. More information about the case is expected to surface as the investigation progresses.
