Adam Schiff is an American lawyer, author, and politician who has served as a U.S. Representative from California since 2001. He is a member of the Democratic Party. Schiff represents California’s 30th congressional district, which includes areas of Los Angeles County. He has been a prominent figure in Congress, particularly in his role as the Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, a role he held from 2019 after being removed by Speaker Kevin McCarthy in 2023.

Schiff gained national attention during the impeachment proceedings against President Donald Trump in 2019 and 2020. As the lead prosecutor for the House impeachment managers, he presented the case for the impeachment of President Trump on charges of abuse of power and obstruction of Congress.
