Former Member of Parliament for Kumbungu Constituency and a freelance media publicist Mr Ras Mubarak has said teachers payment at month end should be more than the President and Member of Parliaments in Ghana.

Mr Mubarak comment follows the enormous contribution of teachers in education sector since the outbreak of the global coronavirus pandemic.
He speaking on Happy Morning Show monitored by Educationweb.com.gh said the sacrifices made by teachers can not be compared to other occupations, hence the need for the increment of teachers monthly salary.
The politician however noted teachers despite their dedication, commitment and sacrifices earn the lowest income, a situation he said sometimes forces them to engage in other activities for money.
“Teachers should be paid higher than anybody in this country. I would retaliate that teachers and doctors as far as I am concern receive higher pay than the President and MP’s,” the farmer told Raymond Nyamador.
According to him, newly posted teachers usually refuse to go to rural areas to teach because of the low teachers pay they receive as monthly income.

“Go to communities and you will realize that the teachers abandon teaching to trade on the side. That is how seriously our society is decaying<” the former Kumbungu MP told host of the Happy Morning Show.
