Speaking in an interview with the Kumasi-based Nhyira FM monitored by EducationWeb.com.gh, the popular teacher said the unions after deducting dues from the government teachers salary lends them the dues for profit.

“All the teacher unions in the country are very very useless, all they do is saving and loans, if not robbery how come they deduct dues from ‘poor’ teachers salary and later give to them as loans with interest,” he told the radio station.

According to him, the problems of the Ghanaian teachers go beyond unpaid salaries adding that public teachers across the country are suffering under the current Management of the Ghana Education Service (GES).

Reacting to President Nana Akufo-Addo’s comment that ‘teaching can not make a teacher a millionaire’ in Ghana, Teacher Kwadwo said that is a bitter truth but was quick to add that His Excellency comment is an insult to teachers.

“We admit no teacher can become a millionaire in this country but that is an insult to teachers, if you can’t help them why should you pass such a nasty comment as a President and laugh at the teachers,” he stressed.
