Africa Education Watch following the dismissal of Mrs Gertrude Quashigah, the National Coordinator of the Ghana School Feeding Programme has urged the Gender Minister, Hon Adwoa Sarfo to investigate the school feeding office.
The Executive Director of the Watch, Mr Kofi Asare in a social media post sighted by Educationweb.com.gh petitioned the Minister to investigate and bring to book all staff and caterers involved in any misconduct.
The Education economist also cited that sacking the former National Coordinator will not solve the corruption at the office of the School Feeding Programme.
“We needed an investigation and possible prosecution of culpable staff and caterers to send a strong message that money meant for feeding children cannot be embezzled this way without consequences,” Kofi Asare stated.
He furthered that “caterers who received cash for cooking for non-existing schools, and MCEs who received ezwitch payments when they had no contracts with the Ghana School Feeding Programme. The GSFP staff alleged to have doubled as a caterer for schools in the Agona area and getting paid for the same must also be investigated.”
Mrs Gertrude Quashigah in a Tuesday letter signed by Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Hon Adwoa Sarfo was asked to submit all necessary documentation of the school feeding office to the Gender Ministry as her contract has been terminated.
