The National Teaching Council (NTC) has said it will soon suspend all unlicensed teachers particularly private school teachers from teaching.
NTC Executive Secretary, Christina Addai in an interview monitored by Educationweb.com.gh said his outfit is liaising with proprietors of private schools on a roadmap to remove unlicensed teachers on their payroll.
“This is to ensure that any person who teaches in a private or public school has been certified through the licensure exams”, h told Luv News.
He added that it will soon be impossible for private schools to employ teachers who have not written the compulsory licensure exams.
Following this development, Teacher Tapp conducted a survey asking whether private school teachers without a license be considered in the classroom.
At the end of the survey, about 50% of qualified and licensed teachers said that National Teaching Council (NTC) should remove all unlicensed or unqualified teachers from the classroom.
However, 1 in 3 disagreed, saying that these teachers should not be removed from their jobs as it could double the level of unemployment in the country.
