President Nana Addo says despite many Ghanaian students benefitting from the popular Free Senior High School (Free SHS) policy, an Accra-based radio station is currently running a campaign to condemn the program.
Akufo-Addo disclosed this speaking at a special ceremony held by the University of Cape Coast (UCC) to honour him with a doctorate degree for his contribution to the education sector and introducing the Free SHS initiative.
“A radio station is currently running a campaign against Free SHS,” His Excellency stated.
But according to Akufo-Addo, many political parties during the last election endorsed the Free Senior High School (Free SHS) program implemented in September 2017 amid the good impact of the policy.
President Akufo-Addo comment comes after the Accra-based Joy 99.7 FM last week interviewed a student, parent and headmaster who all claimed beneficiaries of the program are suffering and that Free SHS should be reviewed.
Commenting on calls for the policy to be reviewed, Nana Akufo-Addo urged all the good people of Ghana to contribute towards the improvement of the popular initiative to benefit more Ghanaian children.
