Dr Adutwum appointment as Education Minister a sign of hope – Teachers

Teachers in the country have commended President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for appointing the Member of Parliament for the Bosomtwe Constituency. Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum as Ghana’s Education Minister.

Dr Osei Adutwum appointment comes after Nana Akufo-Addo was re-elected in the last year’s election as President of the Republic of Ghana.

The Teaching Minister prior to his new assignment as the Education Minister served as the Deputy Minister for Education in charge of Pre-tertiary Education from March 2017 to late December 2020.

He takes over from the Manhyia South Member of Parliament and former Education Minister, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh also known as NAPO.

Teachers in Ghana following Dr Adutwum’s new role has said there will be hope again in the education sector.

“Osei Yaw Adutwum will be the new Minister of Education. There will be hope again”, a teacher stated on social media.

According to the teachers, unlike the former Minister of Education, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh who is a medical doctor by profession, Mr Osei Adutwum as a professional teacher will understand them.
