Samuel Ayeh-Paye, a Ghanaian politician has encouraged parents of free SHS graduates and the West African Exams Council to file a lawsuit against a former Minister for Education for her negative comment on the 2020 WASSCE results.
Mr Ayeh-Paye comment comes after the 2020 Vice-Presidential candidate of NDC in an interview monitored by EducationWeb.com.gh said the excellent 2020 WASSCE results was because the candidates cheated in the exams.
According to her, the Akufo-Addo led government compromised the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) in other for the candidates to pass the just ended WASSCE, a claim staff of the Ghana Education Service has refuted.
But, speaking on Ekosiisen show on the Accra-based Asempa 94.7 FM, the former Member of Parliament for the Ayensuano Constituency urged concerned parents and WAEC to sue Prof. Jane Naana Opoku for defamation.
“Prof. Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang claim might affect the first batch of free SHS beneficiaries in the near future, parents and the Examinations Council must sue Jane Jane Naana and let her provide evidence of her claim,” he stated.
The politician furthered that her negative comment on the results tarnishes the image, reputation and credibility of the non-profit-making organization (WAEC) as a recognized international examination body.
“WAEC suspended the results of those it found cheated in the examination but likewise declared some candidates passed without cheating, we don’t expect such a slander comment from a former Education Minister,” he added.
