How to activate my.SMU Student Account

To activate your students my.SMU Account;

  1. Go to my.SMU Student Center at https://www.smu.edu/OIT/Services/mySMU
  2. Click on the Activate Account button
  3. Enter your SMU ID.
  4. Click on the next button
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions.

How to log into my.SMU Student Account

After activating your my.SMU Student Account, you can sign in via the details below

  1. Navigate to the my.SMU Student Portal.
  2. You will be directed to the my.SMU Student Account sign in page
  3. Enter your SMU Account username
  4. Enter your password
  5. Click on the login button to access your my.SMU Account

How to use the SMU Canvas portal

  1. Open your internet browser
  2. Navigate to the SMU Canvas Portal.
  3. Use your SMU Username and password.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions.

How to access your Courses on SMU Canvas

To access SMU Canvas;

  1. Navigate to the SMU Canvas Portal
  2. Login with username and Password
  3. Your list of available courses will be listed under the “Courses” menu in the Canvas LMS
  4. Select the course you would like to access.

How to use the SMU Webmail portal

To reset your Southern Methodist University Housing Webmail Portal for Students;

  1. Open your internet browser (Google Chrome, Opera, Firefox)
  2. Navigate to the SMU Webmail Portal.
  3. You will be directed to the Microsoft Outlook page.
  4. Enter your SMU email address and Click Next button
  5. Sign in by entering your password.
  6. Then, select the Outlook app.
  7. Follow the on-screen instructions.

How to access SMU Zoom Portal

To access the Southern Methodist University Zoom Portal

  • Open your internet browser (Google Chrome, Opera, Firefox)
  • Navigate to the SMU Zoom Portal.
  • Enter your SMU Username
  • Enter your account password
  • Click on the login button to schedule your meetings.
