What Is IELTS Exams?

IELTS stands for International English Language Testing System. IELTS is for anyone willing to study, work, or migrate to any English speaking country like Australia, Canada, Uk, New Zealand, and the United States.

During the IELTS test, you will be graded according to your English reading, writing, and speaking proficiency. And the test is assorted on a scale of 1-9.

Requirements for IELTS Exams in Ghana

Any aspiring Ghanaian citizen is to take note of the following requirements when applying for IELTS in Ghana:

  • Provide Valid National Identification Documents (Passport or National ID)
  • Do not provide the following ID types for the IELTS online registration in Ghana.

i. Student ID
ii. Voters ID
iii. Driver’s License

  • For Non-Ghanaians citizens, the ID type for the IELTS is a valid Passport only.
  • You can’t register for the IELTS in Ghana if you’re under 18 years. However, your parent/guardian can register with details on your behalf.

How To Register For IELTS Exams Online In Ghana

IELTS registration in Ghana is simple, just like the TOEFL registration. Below are the steps to follow to register and write the ISLTS exams in Ghana:

Step 1. Find the nearest IELTS test centres in your location.

There are officially four centres in Ghana: Cape Coast, Accra, Kumasi, and Tamale. You should only choose the one closest to you.

Step 2. Visit the British Council official website to create an account. Follow the on-screen instructions to book and register for the IELTS exam test online.

Or you can register and pay online or download an application form to print, complete, and submit to your nearest IELTS test center in Ghana.

NB: Don’t forget to provide a copy of your valid identity document. You will also need to present the same identity document on the day of the test

Step 3. Wait for IELTS notification from your test centres. Once your application has been processed, your test center will send you a written confirmation of the date and time of your test. However, the Speaking test can be completed up in a week before or after the other tests. Your test center will advise you on any details.
