The Green Ghana project also dubbed “One student, One tree” according to the Minister for Lands, Hon. Samuel A. Jinapor forms part of efforts to restore the forest cover of the country.
“It is important to recognize that the country is depleted, statistics are frightening and the lack of aggressive afforestation has resulted in the depletion of the forest cover of the country,” he stated at the launch of the initiative.
“The time for action is now, we have to do something drastic and dramatic about it and this is why in accordance with Akufo-Addo and his instructions we have developed a two prone strategy to reverse the situation,” Mr Jinapor added
Students across the country today are expected to join the “One student, One tree” project under the auspices of the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources to accomplish the targeted planting of 5 million trees on Green Ghana Day.
