Gov’t declares May 13 public holiday to mark Eid-ul-Fitr

The general public is hereby informed that Thursday, May 13, 2021, which marks Eid-ul-Fitr, is a statutory public holiday and should be observed as such throughout the country, the Ministry of Interior announced last Friday.

This means there will be no school or school activities for students across the country on Thursday, May 13, 2021.

Eid al-Fitr also called the “Festival of Breaking the Fast” or Lesser Eid, is a religious holiday celebrated by Muslims worldwide that marks the end of the month-long dawn-to-sunset fasting of Ramadan.

This religious Eid is the only day in the month of Shawwal during which Muslims are not permitted to fast.
