The Indian government as part of an effort to support Ghana in the fight against the global locally transmitted coronavirus pandemic Friday, March 5, 2021, donated 50,000 doses of covid-19 jabs to His Excellency Akufo-Addo.
Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Hon. Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey and the Minister for Health Hon. Kwaku Agyeman-Manu received the covid-19 jabs today March 5, 2021, on behalf of the President.
The donation comes after the India High Commissioner to Ghana, Mr Sugandh Rajaram on March 1, 2021, announced his country’s pleasure to supply Ghana with some doses of covid-19 vaccines to slow the virus spread
Hon. Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey receiving the coronavirus vaccines said this will help the Government of Ghana (GoG) reach the 20 million Ghanaians including students it had targeted to vaccinate by end of this year.
Collectively, Ghana has received 650,000 doses of covid-19 jabs to fight the spread of the virus that has killed 629 as of March 5, 2021. The country first received 600,000 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccines on February 24, 2021
