The Management of the University of Ghana, Legon (UG) has postponed the 2021 congregation ceremony previously scheduled to take place from Monday, December 6 to Friday, December 10, 2021, to early January 2022.
UG in a revised 2020/2021 academic calendar sighted by EducationWeb.com.gh indicated the 2021 graduation service for final year students of the university will start from Tuesday, January 11, 2022, to Saturday, January 15, 2022.
“The second semester main examinations will start November 6 and end Sunday, November 21, 2021. Supplementary re-sit examinations for first semester courses start on Thursday, November 18 to December 1, 2021.
The student will go on vacation on Monday, November 22 and return on January 11, 2021, but the 2021 congregation will be conducted from Tuesday, January 11, 2022, to Sunday, January 15, 2022,” the UG 2020/2021 calendar stated.
A source close to the Legon university has said the impending congregation ceremony just like last year’s is possible to be administered virtually amid the outbreak of the locally transmitted coronavirus that has claimed many lives.
The source prediction follows a virtual congregation held for Law and Medical students of the Accra-based University of Ghana, Legon (UG) on July 30, 2021, to slow and curb the spread of the deadly global novel coronavirus.
