The Kumasi-based KNUST and its relevant partners as part of the ‘Support one needy student with one laptop’ (SONSOL) project will be donating 533 brand new laptops to brilliant but needy students of the university.
The project dubbed ‘support one needy student with 1 laptop is an initiative by the kind courtesy of the first female Vice-Chancellor of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Prof Rita Akosua Dickson.
KNUST in a communique sighted by Educationweb.com.gh said the presentation of the 533 brand new laptops under the SONSOL project will begin Thursday, February 25, 2021, at 1400 Hours at Great Hall, KNUST.
Partners of the Vice-Chancellor’s project are Vodafone Ghana, Stanbic Bank Ghana, Absa Bank Ghana, State Insurance Company (SIC), Zoomlion Ghana Limited, Tobinco Pharmaceuticals Limited.
Others are Consolidated Bank Ghana, Standard Chartered Bank Ghana, Andysarp Furnitures and Stationery and Multinec Enterprise.
A level 400 student of KNUST, Eshun Precious who spoke to EducationWeb’s Okyere Darko George said the project will help many of the needy but brilliant students on campus who can not afford a laptop for studies.
