Teachers Day: GNAT to donate life jackets to teachers, students

The leadership of the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) as part of this year’s World Teachers Day celebration says it will donate life jackets to teachers and students in Island communities in the Bono Ahafo Region.
“As part of World Teachers’ Day 2021, the GNAT will donate life jackets to teachers and students in the Island communities within the Brong Ahafo Region of GNAT,” the Association said in a post sighted by EducationWeb.
The 2021 Word Teachers Day under the theme “Teachers Wanted: Reclaiming teaching and learning for human-centred recovery” will be launch at the conference hall, GNAT Regional Secretariate, Sunyani on September 22, 2021.
The Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) will also hold a two-day symposium, educational fair and seminar at the Tyco City Hotel, Sunyani on October 3 and October 4, 2021, for teachers in the Bono Ahafo Region.
GNAT also said members of the Association and students will engage in an Interlocal quiz, football Gala, clean-up exercise and other activities to make the 2021 edition of the World Teachers Day memorable.
In a related development, the Chief Executive Officer of the Teachers Association, Foster Boabeng has said his outfit is considering the establishment of a Bank in the next 3 to 4 years with the teachers’ fund.
Speaking at the GNAT Investment forum under the theme dubbed “Beyond the teachers’ fund: Making our teachers economically sound” he said the GNATfund in 2017 valued GH₵ 1 billion but in less than 4 years it’s GH₵ 2 billion.

“In 2017 we were at GH₵ 1 billion but in less than almost 4 years we have doubled the value of the fund to GH₵ 2 billion so the expectation is that we in the next 3 to 4 years will establish a bank with GH₵ 4 billion,” he told members.
