NTC announces Region to hold 2021 Ghana Teacher Prize (GTP)

The 2021 edition of the Ghana Teacher Prize (GTP) will be held in Sunyani, the Capital of the Bono Region, the Registrar of the National Teaching Council (NTC), Dr Christian Addai Poku disclosed on Monday.
NTC’s Registrar in a post sighted by EducationWeb.com.gh said the venue for the annual ceremony was agreed upon after a meeting with Mrs Ivy Asantewa Owusu, the Bono Regional Director of Education and her team.
GTP is a 3-day event scheduled for October 3 to 5, 2021 annually. The first 2 days are used for the symposium and exhibition, and the last day (world teachers’ day) is the climax and Ghana’s President is always the Guest of Honour.
Speaking at the meeting, Dr Christian Addai-Poku underscored the need for the nation to protect and motivate teachers as teachers are the number one determiner of quality and improved learning outcomes.
He named Mrs Asantewa as the chairperson for the 7 members Local Organization Committee for the event. Other members are Mr Issah Baffoe, Mr Gordon Osei Margo, Mr Luke Mensah, Rev. Father Alex Ansu Ebo, Miss Sarah Yeboah and Mr James Ankomah.
The Registrar inaugurating the Committee who had already started executing their duties commended them for the yeoman’s job adding that they should give out their all in making this year’s GTP one of the best.
The Chairperson, Mrs Ivy Asantewa Owusu in her address promised the NTC officials of nothing but the best. “Bono Region is known for perfection and we promise to make this year’s event the best.”

The event will officially be launched on August 18, 2021, at NAGRAT Lyceum, Accra. The two-day symposium and exhibition will be organized at Tyco Hotel and the grand durbar will be at Eusbett International Conference Centre.
