The Deputy Minister for Education, John Ntim Fordjour has said the publishing of the WASSCE past question and answers booklet for final year students will not be done each year for students amid the cost of the printing.
Speaking in an interview monitored by EducationWeb.com.gh, the Minister said heads of Senior High Schools (SHSs) have been tasked to ensure students after the WASSCE return the past questions booklets for future use.
“It is not the practice or policy that every year, we’re going to print. Next year, for instance, there’s not going to be any need to print. Because what we have in the system is the property of the government of Ghana,” Rev Ntim stated.
He explained that to ensure the booklets are not destroyed or taken away by the students, candidates who fail to return their copies of the booklets would not be given clearance to receive their respective schools’ results.
“So it is not a practice that every year, we’re going to print. Because what has been printed this year, covers the period 2015 to 2020. So there’s no point in going to print another set of past questions and examiner’s report next year.”
Asked why the government or heads of schools could not retrieve last year’s questions and answers booklet from the Akufo-Addo graduates, Hon Ntim said overjoy made the 2020 WASSCE students took away the booklets.
The Assin South MP further disclosed that the government is exploring other technological options for students to access the WASSCE past questions and answers online since Wi-Fi has been installed in the majority of the schools.
“So moving forward, we are considering creating an app or a website for the students to access the WAEC past questions at their own convenient time ahead of the WASSCE for School examination,” Mr Fordjour noted.
