EduWatch petitions CID to probe 2021 WASSCE papers leakage
Africa Education Watch after two WASSCE papers originally scheduled to be conducted on September 15 leaked has petitioned the Criminal Investigations Department to investigate the sources of the WASSCE papers leakage.
The Education Think Tank appeal to the CID follows the postponement of the Physics and Business Management papers after they were in circulation on social media in the early hours of Wednesday before the examination.
“We submitted a compendium of evidence to the Director-General of the CID, petitioning him to investigate the sources of the overnight and dawn leakage of 5 papers including today’s re-scheduled Physics paper 2,” it stated.
According to the Education Policy Research and Advocacy Organization, other 2021 WASSCE papers including Food and Nutrition 3, English Language 2, Elective Mathematics 2 and NAPTEX English Language 2 also leaked.
The Education Watch in a post sighted by EducationWeb.com.gh said details of the petition will not be shared citing that it contains information that could compromise the investigation of the 2021 WASSCE papers leakage.
“We are unable to share the petition since it contains information that could compromise the investigation. We work with state agencies to improve accountability and credibility in Ghana’s pre-tertiary assessments sector,” AEW said.
Meanwhile, the Management of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) despite the unfortunate incident has said it will remain focused on its mandate of conducting credible examinations at all levels in the country.
“The Council wishes to state that it remains focused on its mandate of conducting credible examinations at all levels. Despite the challenges, we are steadfast in our commitment to conduct the 2021 examinations,” WAEC stated.

The non-profit-making organization (WAEC) as part of an effort to curb cases of examination malpractice and leakage says some supervisors and invigilators associated with the conduct of the examination have been withdrawn.
