Prospective candidates who will sit for the 2021 edition of the WASSCE scheduled for September/October will get a free maths set and calculator, Ghana’s former Education Minister, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh has said.
The mathematical sets and calculators procured by the Akufo-Addo government for last year’s WASSCE candidates according to the former Education Minister delayed amid the unexpected outbreak of COVID-19.
NAPO in a social media post sighted by Educationweb.com.gh explained that amid the novel virus and it’s restrictions the first batch of the maths set and calculators did not arrive in time for the benefit of the candidates.
The immediate past Education Minister, however, said 2021 and subsequent WASSCE candidates and will be given a mathematical set and calculator during the conduct of the annual WASSCE for School Candidates exams.
“The intention to purchase the materials for all SHS students is to enable them to familiarize themselves with the items in preparation for their exams,” the Manhyia South Member of Parliament stated.
