WAEC after Africa Education Watch reported that this year’s WASSCE Food and Nutrition Paper 3 leaked a day before the conduct of the examination has said the Watch misleading and creating anxiety among the candidates and public.
In a social media post sighted by EducationWeb.com.gh, the Education Think Tank said it reported the leakage of the paper which was scheduled to be administered on Friday, August 20, 2021, at 1:30 PM to the Examinations Council.
“We reported to West African Examinations Council (WAEC) at 11:10 AM, and can now confirm it is indeed a genuine leak. The paper is just starting at the Centres,” the Executive Director of the EduWatch, Mr Kofi Asare said in the post.
But, the non-profit-making organization (WAEC) reacting to the alleged leakage of the 2021 WASSCE Food and Nutrition Paper 3 has described the report of the Education Watch as untrue and misleading.
“We wish to state emphatically that the information put out by Eduwatch about the alleged leakage of Foods and Nutrition Paper 3 is untrue, misleading and creating anxiety among the candidates and our public,” WAEC stated.
According to the Council, Instructions to the Foods and Nutrition Paper was distributed to Heads of School on August 16, 2021, to enable teachers to prepare for the conduct of the actual paper which was taken on Friday, August 20.
“The paper clearly contains only guidelines as you can all see and was in the public domain, hence could not be referred to as leaked on 19th August 2021,” the West African Examinations Council noted in a press release.
“While the actual paper requested candidates to prepare, cook and serve a three-course meal for an ulcer patient, the purported leaked question paper received from Eduwatch requested for a two-course meal for a lactating mother.”
The Examinations Council furthered that the screenshot question paper forwarded to us by Africa Education Watch was full of spelling and grammatical errors and that could certainly not have emanated from WAEC.
