The Executive Director of the Watch, Mr Kofi Asare, in an interview monitored by EducationWeb.com.gh, said the probe disclosed that the questions for the international examinations are leaked from the depots of the Council.

According to him, questions for the 2021 WASSCE Elective Mathematics and English Language, which the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has confirmed leaked was sold out a day before the conduct of the examination.

“What we know is that we got the E-Maths and English Language paper, before midnight and we got them because we paid for them, which means before midnight, every question bag must be in the safe custody of WAEC depot

So the time for the papers leakages is not the time candidates are in the examination hall, or question bags are being open at the exam centre. The time for the questions leakage is the time they are at the WAEC depots,” he stated.

The Education Economist said the 2021 Physics papers, scheduled to be conducted on Wednesday, September 15, 2021, at 8:30 Am but were later rescheduled by the Examinations Council leaked around 4:00 Am on Wednesday.

“Our inquiries point to the fact that the time questions leak is well before midnight and that time questions packed in a sack is always in WAEC depot with security and the only person with the key to the sack is WAEC official,” he said.

A staff of the non-profit-making organization (WAEC) has also disclosed examination question papers are leaked by some unfaithful supervisors after they have taken them from the West African Examinations Council depot.

The WAEC official said some unscrupulous supervisors working with the Council take screenshots of the WAEC examination question papers and forward them to teachers and heads of schools for reasons best known to them.

“Ahead of every WAEC examination, question papers are sent to the various depots but some supervisors after taking the questions from the depots take screenshots and sent them to teachers and heads of schools,” she stated.
