The University of Education, Winneba in a bid to fulfil its vision to expand the institution has introduced 62 new academic programmes to be rolled out next year, the Acting Vice-Chancellor of UEW announced on Monday.
Prof. Andy Ofori-Birikorang disclosed this giving his speech at the first session of the 26th Congregation of the UEW held at the Jophus Anamuah-Mensah Conference Centre, North Campus, Winneba on Monday, December 13, 2021.
“Among the new programmes are two Doctor of Philosophy programmes, 22 Master of Philosophy (MPhil) programmes, two Master of Business Administration programmes, three Master of Science programmes.
It also consists of five Master of Arts (MA) programmes, five Master of Education programmes, 20 undergraduate programmes, two diploma programmes and one certificate programme,” the Vice-Chancellor stated in his address.
Prof. Ofori-Birikorang disclosed that inclusive education was core amongst the values of the Winneba-based University as an institution adding, Management had established a Braille Library to support students with special needs.
The Acting Vice-Chancellor of the UEW University indicated that Management procured new sets of modern furniture for all the new lecture theatres to create the necessary conducive environment for teaching and learning.
“The fixing of furniture and allocation of offices at the Student Centre has been done. In the coming days, the centre will come up live with full-scale student-centred activities,” he told members of the university community at the event.
Professor Ofori-Birikorang in a form of advice urged graduands to never, ever stop learning but should leave the University and enter into the world of work with the mindset that they have a lot more to learn.
“Therefore, our approach to work should be a mindset to inquire; observe; recognise that we may be incorrect now and then; and that we are always work in progress to master our work and craft,” the Educationist noted.
A total of 4,472 students from Faculties in Akenten Appiah Menka University of Skills and Entrepreneurial Development were presented with diplomas, bachelor degrees and various postgraduate degrees on Monday, 13th December 2021.
The week-long ceremony Authorities of UEW has said will continue from Wednesday, 15th to Saturday, 18th December 2021, for various faculties at the Jophus Anamuah-Mensah Conference Centre, North Campus, Winneba.
remaining faculties it said are “The faculties of Social Sciences Education, Science Education, Ghanaian Languages Education, Foreign Languages Education, Educational Studies, Schools of Business, Creative Arts and Graduate Studies.”
