The Management of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) has debunked reports on social media and other news websites alleging that the university has recorded more than 300 coronavirus positive cases on campus.

Reacting to the false reports in a communique sighted by EducationWeb.com.gh, Winneba university said a level 300 student tested positive for the novel coronavirus but has since been treated and discharged.
“We have had one case involving a Level 300 student who has been miscommunicated as UEW having recorded 300 cases of COVID-19. It is noteworthy that this Level 300 student has been treated and discharged,” UEW stated.
The Covid-19 situation on campus the Management of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) say is currently under control even though few cases have been recorded but none is critical.
“The cases are responding very well to treatment and it is equally important to note that the COVID-19 taskforce is also actively working to ensure strict adherence to the safety protocols,” Authorities of the tertiary institution said.

Students and members of the university community as the country cases of the locally transmitted coronavirus continue to surge have been asked to strictly adhere to covid protocols to limit the coronavirus positive cases.
