Immediate past Minister of Education, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh and Deputy Education Minister-designate, John Ntim Fordjour have separately congratulated President Akufo-Addo on his new PhD conferment from the University of Cape Coast (UCC).
UCC Saturday following Nana Akufo-Addo’s colossal contribution and introduction of the Free Senior High School (Free SHS) policy conferred an Honorary Doctor of Philosophy (Honoris Causa) in Educational Leadership degree on him.
Speaking at the special ceremony, Akufo-Addo said he is delighted to be accorded the honour for his introduction and implementation of the Free Senior High School (Free SHS) policy despite him not being an alumnus of UCC.
The former and present Education Ministers following the new PhD conferment to His Excellency the President in a separate social media post sighted by EducationWeb.com.gh commended him for the great achievement.
Posting on social media, former Education Minister and current Minister of Energy, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh popularly known as NAPO said “Congratulations your Excellency”
On the part of the Deputy Minister of Education-designate, John Ntim wrote “congratulations President Akufo-Addo on the conferment of Doctor Honoris Causa (PhD in Educational Leadership) by the University of Cape Coast.
The Assin South Member of Parliament added that “this is in recognition of your game-changing Free SHS policy and colossal contribution to education in Ghana.”
This is the third time Akufo-Addo has received such honour from a university – the first being in May 2016 from a celebrated Fort Hare University of South Africa, and the second in December 2017 from the University of Liberia.
