Ghana’s Education Minister, Dr. Yaw Adutwum the Director-General of GES, Kwasi Opoku-Amankwa, and Registrar of the NTC, Christian Addai Poku Friday outdoors the Ghana teacher licensing and registration programme.
The launch has paved way for the commencement of the nationwide issuance of teacher license and registration numbers which will kick start Monday, May 17, 2021, for both public and private school teachers.
According to the National Teaching Council (NTC), the issuance of the teacher license to qualified in-service teachers will begin in the Greater Accra Region and later extended to other regions in the country.
For non-qualified teachers, the Council says it will after the qualified teacher licensing award them a temporary license to enable them to upgrade themselves within a 3 year period and sit for teacher licensure.
The Council in a blog post sighted by Educationweb.com.gh indicated non-professional teachers who will be successful at the Ghana teacher licensure examination will be given a permanent license as qualified teachers.
“Qualified and eligible teachers due for the license are to first register at the NTC portal and also avail themselves for the teacher licensing exercise at the various circuit centres,” the Teaching Council stated in the post.
