Taxes will not be deducted from teachers allowances – MoE

The Ministry of Finance will not deduct any taxes from the professional development teachers allowances which will be paid to professional and non-professional teachers late this year, the Education Ministry has said.
According to the MoE, the Finance Ministry has been directed not to deduct any taxes from the professional development teachers allowances.
A staff of the Ministry of Education (MoE) in an interview monitored by Educationweb.com.gh said his outfit will refund any taxes deducted from 2021 teachers allowance by the Finance Ministry.
“We have spoken to the Finance Ministry and no taxes will be deducted from the professional development allowances so if you go to the bank and there is tax deduction alert us for refund,’’ the MoE official stated.

Ghana’s Education Service (GES) is yet to confirm the Finance Ministry under the auspices of the government has released funds for the payment of the development allowances to eligible teachers late this year.
