He last week urged the speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin to suspend the payment of admission fees for university students in the 2020/2021 academic year amid the negative impact of covid on the country’s economy.

The politician cited that due to the locally transmitted coronavirus many families are still struggling and cannot afford the fees being requested.

But, the Minister of Education-designate and Bosomtwe MP, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum speaking in parliament said Vice-Chancellors of various tertiary institutions in the country do not agree with the Bawku Central proposal.

“I have spoken to a number of vice-chancellors who are telling me they don’t know what is going on in this house.

“They are saying that on a scale a preference this not what they are going to ask us to do for them,” he told the Speaker Alban Bagbin.
