Ghana’s Education Service (GES) has said it postponed SHS 3 students reporting date to May 5, 2021, in other to reach the targeted 1,080 instructional hours prior to the conduct of 2021 WASSCE for School.
The Service explanation comes after it Tuesday announced for final year Senior High School (SHS) students in both single and double-track schools to return home after they were expected to resume from Easter break April 6.
In a statement copied to Educationweb.com.gh, GES has indicated the Form 3 students when returned to school on May 5 will not break or vacate until they write the pending West African Senior School Certificate Examination.
“Management of GES considers this a better option where the students will not break their instructional period and have the full 1,080 hours needed prior to the final examination,” the Education Service stated in the release.
The rescheduling of the SHS 3 students reporting date comes after the Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools (CHASS) petitioned the Ghana Education Service to review the academic calendar for this year.
