The Management of the Ghana Education Service (GES) following report that some Heads of Junior High Schools are demanding a fee from 2021 BECE graduates for the schools selection register has said the register is not for sale.
In a statement copied to EducationWeb.com.gh, the Education Service said it has supplied all District Education Offices with hard copies of the school register to aid the JHS graduates in the ongoing school selection process.
“Be informed that the 2021 schools register is NOT for sale. GES has supplied all District Education Offices with hard copies of the register to aid the students in their school selection,” the Ghana Education Service (GES) stated.
It also said the 2021 BECE school selection register has been uploaded on https://ges.gov.gh and is available for download, thus students who make a payment or buy from their school or teacher do so at their own risk.
“In addition, the register has been uploaded on our website, www.ges.gov.gh. Kindly visit the site and download. Do not buy from any school. You do that at your own risk,” the release sign by the spokeswoman of the Service said.
Authorities of Junior High Schools (JHSs) in the country similarly have been cautioned to desist from taking money for the school register. According to GES, any Headteacher reported to be engaged in such an illegal act will be dealt with.
The nationwide selection of Senior High Technical School for computer placement which commenced on Monday, November 29, 2021, is expected to end on Tuesday, December 14, 2021, for all candidates who sat for BECE this year.
As part of efforts to improve Technical and Vocational Education, the Ghana Education Service (GES) has updated the 2021 school selection register with 139 Technical and Vocational Education and Training Service (TVETS) institutions.
Appendix one (1) of the school selection register contains detailed Technical and Vocational Education and Training Service (TVETS) programmes.
Appendix two (2) of the school register also contains detailed subjects of the Technical programmes to be offered in the various Senior High Technical Schools (SECTECH) institutions in the country.
