The Ghana National Council of Private Schools (GNACOPS) on behalf of private school owners in the country has applauded President Nana Akufo-Addo for his bold decision to reopen schools on 15th January 2021.
His Excellency in his first televised nation’s address on March 14, 2020, directed for the closure of all schools as part of what described as safety measures to slow and curb the spread of the global coronavirus pandemic.
However, he yesterday in his 21st address on measures taken to control the locally transmitted COVID-19 announced that schools effective January 15 will be reopened to Kindergarten, primary and Junior High School students.
The private schools’ council following the announcement took to social media to express their profound gratitude saying “Congratulations for reopening schools, Private schools are grateful. Mr President”.
Private school teachers since the temporal closure of schools on several occasion have petitioned the Government of Ghana (GoG) to support them financially because they were not paid before schools were shut down.
