Research conducted by the Ghana National Council of Private Schools has disclosed 85 per cent of private school proprietors are not professionally equipped with knowledge and understanding within the scope of private education.
Mr Gyetuah, the National Executive Director of GNACOPS speaking to EducationWeb.com.gh said it is for this reason his outfit has introduced an Education Leadership training program to train private school owners in the country.
The education leadership training programme, Mr Enoch Gyetuah said is an excellent opportunity that was designed as a result of the study which was conducted by the Ghana National Council of Private Schools (GNACOPS) in 2018.
“The research conducted in 2018 revealed that over 85% of private education operators really do not know and have not been exposed to the legal understanding of activities of running private education in Ghana
They will be given the chance to be trained and given Education on the parameters of Education governance, Financial management and budgeting, Information and Communication Technology etc,” he told EducationWeb on Wednesday.
The GNACOPS Executive Director said the numerous reformation going on at the Ministry of Education led by Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum shows the central government has set a standard for the country’s education system.
“It has been promulgated that, the current situation of most of our school operators poses a threat to schools being folded-up in the few years ahead but the reformation at the Ministry shows the government is serious,” Mr Kwasi said.
He said the government has positioned itself in educational delivery to compete with the world adding that the majority of students are now chasing public education because the running of govt schools has increasingly changed.
“We believe in capacity building, a certain kind of situational change, that is likely to expose private education practitioners to pragmatic techniques that produce greater outcomes in their businesses.
It is our very happiness that School Operators have taken this great opportunity to acquaint themselves with modern trends and build their capacity with the relevant information needed to grow private education delivery strategies
The first batch of training was fantastic and now the majority of them are working assiduously to turn the coin. Let’s start the new educational journey experiences today to redefine the role of Private Education in Ghana,” he stated.
