Over 20,000 GES teachers are set to be promoted – Govt

Approximately 26,954 government school teachers of the Ghana Education Service (GES) are set to be promoted to various teaching grades to improve teaching and learning, the Jubilee House announced on Friday.
The Golden House in a post sighted by EducationWeb said the prospective teachers at the appropriate time will be promoted to various teaching ranks including deputy directors and assistant directors of education.
The impending teachers’ promotion the Presidential Palace said forms part of the government’s revised promotion metrics and processes of educational sector workers aimed at improving efficiency and effectiveness.
The promotion comes after the management of the Ghana Education Service (GES) released the provisional promotion examination results of teaching staff who sat for the promotion examination conducted in December 2021.
The Education Service in a statement copied to EducationWeb said out of the 39,918 candidates who were shortlisted for the national teachers’ examination, only 26,954 prospective candidates representing 67.5% were successful.
For the Deputy Director’s grade, the Ghana Education Service (GES) said out of the 3,538 candidates who participated in the December 2021 promotion test, some 2,330 teachers staff representing 65.8% were successful.
“For Assistant Director I, 10,950 took the test with 7,785 being successful representing 71%. Candidates who sat for the promotion test to Assistant Director II grade were 22,101 out of which 14,541 representing 65.8% passed
For the Principal Superintendent’s grade, a total of 3,329 candidates according to the Service sat for the examination but 2,298 candidates representing 69% were qualified for passed,” the Ghana Education Service said in the release.
“Results of those who passed the Ghana Education Service (GES) teachers examination can be accessed on https://gespromotions.gov.gh. (a fee of GHC10.00 apply). from 6 pm on Wednesday, April 27, 2022,” the GES stated.
The statement dated April 27, 2022, and signed by the Public Relations Officer (PRO) for the Ghana Education Service, Cassandra Twum Ampofo indicated formal promotion letters will be released in due course to passed candidates.
