The Management of the National Teaching Council (NTC) last year today June 22, 2020, announced to phase out private school teachers without professional teaching license throughout the country from classrooms.
NTC Executive Secretary, Christian Addai Poku in an interview monitored by Educationweb.com.gh said this will ensure that any person who teaches in a private or public school has been certified through the licensure exams.
He noted that his outfit is collaborating with proprietors of private schools in the country on a roadmap to remove all unqualified private school teachers from their payroll.
“So it will soon be impossible for private schools to employ teachers who have not written the compulsory licensure exams”, he told Luv News.
The National Teaching Council (NTC) is mandated by the Education Act 2008 (Act 778), section 9 to improve professional standing and status of teachers and to license and register teachers in Ghana.
