According to the Executive Secretary of the National Teaching Council (NTC), more than 350,000 public and private school teachers are expected to register for a license at the Teacher Portal Ghana before May 7, 2021.
Dr Christain Addai Poku speaking on Peace 104.3 FM kokrokoo show on Thursday monitored by Educationweb.com.gh said as at mid April this year only 127,000 had registered at the teacher portal for the teaching license.
“But we are expecting over 350,000 public and private school teachers to register for at the Teacher portal Ghana https://tpg.ntc.gov.gh/ for the NTC registration numbers and teaching license,” he told host Kwame Sefa Kayi.
The NTC staff continued that “we understand internet connection at some places in the country is poor but we beg them, they should travel to places where internet is good and spend about 20 minutes to register”
He said documents needed for the license registration are the first appointment letter and first professional certificate, “these are the necessary details needed, you will scan and upload to the NTC system.
Explaining the registration process, Mr Christian Addia Poku said the Teaching Council will validate the information submitted by teachers and compare if they tally the documents submitted by Ghana Education Service.
“After the validation process, teachers whose details are correct will be activated and given a new registered number, we will phase all the old ones and use the newly constructed numbers,” the NTC Executive Secretary said.
NTC has scheduled to end the registration process at the Teacher Portal Ghana on May 7, 2021, It in a statement copied to EducationWeb said teachers who refuse to participate will lose their right to teach in Ghana.
