NTC announces Region to host 2022 Ghana Teacher Prize

The management of the National Teaching Council (NTC) after a crunch meeting has selected Tamale to host the 2022 Ghana Teacher Prize, an annual event to award the most outstanding teachers in the country each academic year.

The venue for the 2022 Ghana Teacher Prize, the Registrar of the Council, Dr Christian Addai Poku in a statement copied to EducationWeb said was proposed at a planning committee meeting held in the month of February 2022.

Mr Addai Poku said his outfit following the impending awards ceremony slated for early October this year met with the Northern Regional Education Directorate and the Local Planning Committee (LOC) on Friday, April 22, 2022.

“A seven (7) member Local Organizing Committee (LOC) was formed and chaired by the Regional Director of Education, Dr Peter Attafuah, other members are Alhaji Amuda Kassa, Rev. K.A Odaatu, H.E. Forgor Elizabeth S.

Others are Mr Frederick Owusu all of the Regional Directorate of Education, A representative from the Teacher Unions and a representative from the Regional Coordinating Council,” the Executive Director of NTC said in the release.

The forthcoming Teacher Prize award approved by the Minister for Education, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, the National Teaching Council (NTC) says will officially be launched in the month of August 2022 in Greater Accra.

“The two-day symposium and exhibition will be held at the Modern City Hotel and the grand durbar at the Multi-Purpose Auditorium of the University for Development Studies (UDS), Tamale,” the National Council said last week.

The annual GTP is a three-day event which commences from the 3rd to the 5th of October annually. The first two days are used for the symposium and exhibition, the last day, 5th October (World Teachers’ Day) is the climax.

The President of Ghana is always the Guest of Honour for the teachers’ ceremony. His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as the current State man is expected to be present at this academic year’s prize event in October 2022.
