NUGS sends message to NSS personnel posted to its Secretariat

The National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS), following the release of postings of graduates for the 2021/2022 academic year says NSS personnel posted to its Secretariate from Monday present their letters for endorsement.

NUGS in a statement copied to EducationWeb.com.gh said the appointment letters are to be submitted from Monday, October 11 to Wednesday, October 13, 2021, from 12 pm to 5 pm each day at the UG city campus SRC Office.

“Congratulations to all service personnel posted to serve the nation at the Union’s Secretariate. Personnel hereby are by are directed to present their NSS letters for endorsement from October 11, 2021,” the Students Union stated.

The Ghana National Service Scheme (NSS) October 6, 2021, released the 2021/2022 national service postings of about 81,081 prospective graduates from various accredited tertiary institutions who enrolled to serve the nation.

NSS however said some graduates postings have been put on hold for further verification due to discrepancies in their online registration details. It urged the affected to visit any regional office of the Scheme to be cleared for posting.

“They are to visit any regional office of the Service with a copy of enrolment forms, Students ID, any national ID and soft copy of their passport picture save with their NSS number as a file name to clear them for postings,” it noted.

Successfully posted personnel have been urged to log on to the Scheme’s website https://nss.gov.gh to confirm the specifics of their placements before visiting their respective user agencies to endorse their letters of appointment.

“It is important to note that postings registration should be completed by Friday, November 5, 2021. Management urges graduates posted and accepted by user agencies to begin national service on Monday, October 11, 2021,”

According to the spokesperson for NSS, posted personnel will commence their national service from October this year and end it in August 2022. Armstrong Essah said the month of September 2022 will be their paid terminal leave.

Asked if the allowance for service personnel has been increased, the spokesman for the Ghana Service Scheme said prospective personnel will be paid an amount of GH¢ 559.04 adding consultations are underway for an increase.
