The conduct of the 2021 May/June WASSCE for School has been postponed to August 2021 for students preparing to sit for the national examination in Nigeria, Nigeria’s West African Examinations Council announced Friday.
A spokesperson for WAEC Nigeria, Demianus Ojijeogu in a statement copied to Educationweb.com.gh said the 2021 May/June WASSCE earlier scheduled for May/June will now be administered from August 16 to September 30.
“Effects of the covid-19 are still very much felt in the education sector. The academic calendar has been distorted. It will, therefore, not be possible to have the examination in May/June this year,” the WAEC official said.
According to the Examinations Council, an official WASSCE timetable a the appropriate time will be communicated to students and the general public.
Meanwhile, Ghana’s Education Service (GES) has proposed for the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) to administer the 2021 WASSCE for School from September to October 2021 for Ghanaian candidates.
