The Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) responsible to supervise, accredited and regulate all tertiary institutions in the country as part of efforts to slow the spread of covid-19 has asked heads of tertiary institutions to conduct graduation ceremonies virtually.
Dr Mohammed Salifu, the Director-General of GTEC in a communique sighted by EducationWeb.com.gh reminded heads of the institution (Vice-chancellors, Principals) of all tertiary institutions both private and public to
1. Follow strictly the teaching and learning plans shared with GTEC and the Ministry of Education which provided the assurance for the safe reopening of schools for the 2021/2022 academic year.
2. Ensure that teaching and learning occur in blended mode, using online services and resources as much as possible and limiting the number of students physically present on campus and in lecture halls for in-person teaching and learning.
3. Until further notice move all graduation ceremonies online and any related gathering in this respect must conform strictly to the national restriction on the social gathering.
4. Ensure that all staff and students continues to adhere strictly to the Covid-19 prevention protocols.
