The Ministry of Education (MoE) in due course will introduce the deans of discipline in all the public Senior High Schools (SHSs) across the country amid high cases of students bullying and homoing their colleagues on campus.
The deans of discipline the spokesman for the Education Ministry, Kwasi Kwarteng said would be teachers who would be feared by the students yet are lovely and caring, patient and trained how to know how to talk to the students.
“There is no way you will exhume educational transformation without experiencing back elements of discipline because if the children we are training have no codes of conduct the training would bounce back.
“We will refer all such issues to them (deans of discipline), and every training that has been given them by the Ghana Education Service with regards to discipline would be important,” the Public Relations Officer said in an interview.
Mr Emmanuel Kwasi Kwarteng comment comes after a student of the Ashanti-Region based Konongo Odumase Senior High School (KOSS), Larhan Sam-una was murdered by his colleague for attempting to prevent bullying on campus.
Stabbed by his colleague, Larhan died shortly after he was rushed to the Konongo Odumase Government Hospital. Eyewitnesses say the deceased was stabbed after he attempted to stop a colleague from bullying another student.
Five students of the Odumase Senior High School since the incident occurred have been arrested by the Konongo Police to assist in investigations over the murder of the late Larhan Sam-una who was stabbed to death on Friday.
According to the Ministry of Education spokesperson, his outfit, the Ghana Education Service (GES) and the Ghana Police Service and state agencies are collaborating to get to the bottom of the unfortunate issue.
