MoE gets clearance to recruit over 16,000 newly trained teachers

The Ministry of Finance (MoF) has granted the Ministry of Education (MoE) financial clearance to recruit 16,850 newly trained teachers into service, a staff of the Education Ministry told EducationWeb.com.gh on Friday.

Speaking to EducationWeb, the Ministry of Education (MoE) staff said the appointment of the newly trained teachers should not be earlier than December 31, 2021. He said the deadline for the clearance expires end of December 2021.

“Approval is also granted for their emolument to be charged against the compensation of Employees vote of the Ministry of Education in the 2020 budget,” a letter to the Minister for Education, Dr Adutwum stated.

This comes after trained teachers from various teacher training institutions (Colleges of Education) raised concerns over the delay of the 2021 recruitment of new teachers into service as the 2021 academic year draws near.

But, the Deputy Spokesman for the Education Ministry, Mr Yaw Opoku Mensah reacting to their concerns said the Management of the Ghana Education Service (GES) will recruit new teachers before the clearance deadline.

He said even though the 2021 academic year is about to end however the Ministry of Education and the Ghana Education Service (GES) are working to start the recruitment process to employ the trained teachers into service.

“We hope that we recruit more graduates before the end of December 31, 2021, because our financial clearance from the Ministry of Finance is to ensure that we employ before December 31, 2021,” he said on November 18, 2021.

According to Mr Yaw Opoku Mensah, newly trained teachers who have completed national service and passed licensure examination before the financial clearance recruitment deadline will be considered for recruitment.

The spokesman, therefore, urged tertiary institution graduates seeking to be employed into service to pay attention to job announcements put out by his outfit in terms of what criteria the recruitment financial clearance is.

The Ministry of Finance (MoF) recruitment financial clearance for the Management of the Ghana Education Service (GES) to recruit new graduates into service for the 2021 academic year will expire December 31 this year.
