MoE denies claim to supply new curricula textbooks 2024

The Ministry of Education (MoE) following a report that the textbooks for the new curricula would be distributed to primary school students across the country in 2024 by the government says the claim is false, untrue and misleading.
In a statement copied to EducationWeb, the Ministry said the Minister in charge of Education, Honourable Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum is committed to delivering the new curriculum textbooks to school children late this academic year.
The Ministry of Education (MoE) has noted with surprise news publications making rounds, which purport that the government is unable to provide schools with textbooks for the new curriculum until 2024
The Ministry encourages the public to disregard such false publications, which are merely motivated by the mischief of some individuals,” the press release signed by the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of MoE, Kwasi Kwarteng stated.
The spokesperson also indicated with the completion of all procurement processes, plans are far advanced for publishers within 120 days are expected to provide new curriculum textbooks to schools across the country.
“With the completion of all procurement processes by the PPA, publishers are expected to supply textbooks within 120days. The Minister for Education Dr Adutwum is still committed to providing our basic school textbooks,” he stated.
Admitting the textbooks for the new curriculum has been delayed, the Education Ministry spokesman said stakeholders associated with the new curriculum textbooks are working tirelessly to ensure they are provided in due course.
“We have been working with the appropriate institutions, including Public Procurement Authority, printers, and publishers to ensure delivery of books to various schools,” Kwasi Kwarteng stated in the statement dated May 20, 2022.
He noted that more than 150,000 teacher resource packs have been distributed to teachers across the length and breadth of the country to enhance teaching and learning activities to improve learning outcomes.
“A comprehensive Quality Assurance Review, coupled with the conclusion of all procurement processes by the Procurement Authority contracts have been signed and publishers have 120 days to complete their mandate,” it noted.
