Two (2) National Democratic Congress (NDC) Members of Parliament (MPs) have filed a motion for a bi-partisan committee to investigate leakages detected in the administration of 2011 to 2021 WASSCE School.
The opposition MPs, Dr Clement Apaak and Peter Nortsu-Kotoe in their private member’s motion sighted by EducationWeb.com.gh have urged Parliament to investigate the allegations of irregularities of exam papers leakages.
“A bi-partisan committee to investigate the allegations and irregularities of leakages of examination papers and related malpractice in examinations conducted by the West African Examinations Council,” the motion to Parliament stated.
Dr Clement Abas Apaak and Peter Nortsu-Kotoe after the investigation into the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) malpractice by the committee have urged for a report to be submitted to Parliament.
The Minority motion comes after Education Think Tank – Africa Education Watch in its 2021 WASSCE report disclosed the majority of the just ended 2021 edition of the WASSCE for School questions leaked on social media platforms.
According to the Education Watch, the 2021 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for School Candidates question papers were sold for GHC30 to GHC150 on a telegram group with over 200,000 subscribers.
EduWatch in the comprehensive WASSCE report also said some WAEC supervisors and invigilators contributed to examination malpractice at some examination centres adding that candidates were compelled to pay money to them.
“A teacher charged a section of students an amount of GHC 50 each for special classes with a promise to provide
answers to the questions during exams. He fulfilled his promise by providing the answers,” it stated in the report.
