Adutwum’s comment comes after the Insight Newspaper Monday reported the Free Senior High School (Free SHS) and Nation Builders Corps (NABCO) are facing a funding crisis due to the non-availability of funds.

But, speaking in an interview with Peace 104. 3 FM monitored by Educationweb.com.gh, the Education Minister said a cheque of GH₵ 86 million last Friday was given to the National Food Buffer Stock Company.

“The Ministry of Finance has released an amount to National Food Buffer Stock Company (NAFCO) so what do you mean by Free SHS and NABCO are facing funding crisis due to the non-availability of funds,” he stressed.

According to him, Heads of Senior High Schools have also been given an undisclosed amount of money to cater for the day-to-day administration of the school and students under the Nana Akufo-Addo Free SHS program.

“So what I am saying is if somebody says there is a food shortage in our Senior High Schools it is not true, it is not true the government has no money to run the Free Senior High School,” he told host of Kokrooko show.

However, the Bosomtwe Member of Parliament admitted there could be a little delay in the release of funds by the Ministry of Finance but for somebody to say there is no money for government projects is a lie.
